Spices are very little things that make a very big difference. We know spices add killer flavor to our food. We know that sometimes we burn the chicken or overcook the veggies, its spices that come to the rescue! The added flavor is the least of the spice racks amazing attributes. But I know of a spice that is great tasting and is surprisingly great for you.
Drum roll please… Cinnamon.
Yes! Cinnamon is not only a great way to add flavor to your food, it has some awesome health benefits too. I just recently got reintroduced to cinnamon. Growing up in Columbia, my mom put cinnamon in just about everything, I was on cinnamon overload. I got sick of it, so I wasn’t the biggest fan of cinnamon… Until my husband made me breakfast one morning (yes I know, I got a keeper). He made us french toast. It was delish, so when he told me how he prepared it, I was shocked and excited all at once. I was able to eat cinnamon again!
Here’s his secret recipe (guess it’s not a secret anymore, but I’m sure he won’t mind me sharing it with you guys):
He used whole wheat toast and dipped it in egg whites. Once the bread was lightly coated, he put it on a skillet and sprinkled cinnamon on it and cooked it on both sides until it was golden brown.
“What’s the rest?” You ask. That is the rest! That’s all it took to make a yummy cinnamon infused fulfilling breakfast.
