“Ugh, it’s Monday…again”, does this sound like you? If so, it’s okay, a lot of people hate Mondays. They just had a great weekend with family and friends, work is the last place they want to be. It’s also easy to be really tired on Mondays due to staying up late or sleeping in too much. Needless to say, getting motivated isn’t easy. Whatever the reason is behind why you hate Mondays, you’ve got to snap out of it, and fast.
I personally love Mondays. It’s the day of the week in which sets the tone for the week to come. Mondays are the time to get things going in a positive way and make short term goals for the week. Here are some tips so you can make the most of your Mondays, get out of the funk of the Monday Blues and how to get motivated to exercise.
Go to the Gym Bright and Early
Even though you think you’re extra tired Monday mornings, it’s the time that your body most likely got the most rest (as long as you weren’t out drinking all night). You feel tired because your brain and body worked a little less hard. Wake up an extra hour before work and hit the gym. It’s going to be a pain in the butt to wake up and motivate yourself to actually go, but do it! Once you’re awake and working out, you’ll see that your attitude will completely change. Your brain will go from a “No, don’t make me!” to a “Oh yeah, lets do this!” mentality. Just be sure to eat a good breakfast with protein and complex carbs. Those carbs are what’s going to give you energy not only at the gym, but throughout your whole day as well.
Wear Bright Colors to the Gym
My husband makes fun of me every Monday morning. Every single time I leave the house, it never fails that he asks, “Is today Halloween?” Haha, very funny (if you can’t tell, that’s my sarcasm voice). He jokes with me about this because I wear my brightest and most colorful outfits and shoes on Mondays. It’s a fact that our moods are lifted when we see bright colors. Don’t be afraid of wearing your bright blue pants with a bright yellow tie-dye tank and lime green shoes. You may look silly at first, but your spirit and charisma on a Monday morning will make everyone envious.
Listen to Crazy Music
Whether it’s on the car ride to the gym, on the treadmill running your butt off or lifting those weights like you own them, listen to the most fun, outrageous, heart-pumping, feet-moving songs you can think of. I have a specific play-list for my Monday morning workouts. Being as though I’m Colombian, Spanish songs are what get my blood pumping. I love Pitt Bull, and other regatone artists. Anything that gets me dancing. If you’re in a spin class, or any class for that matter, don’t be afraid to cheer and sing to the music. Motivating others will in turn help you as well.
The point is, you have to be able to motivate yourself. You see people all the time at the gym who don’t really want to be there, but as soon as they get their workout completed, they’re sure glad they went. Who cares what people think or what they see. Working out is your time for yourself. It’s solely to get yourself in shape and healthy, or maintain your healthy lifestyle. And when I hear “My Hips Don’t Lie”, I can’t help but to be motivated for some sculpted, killer hips and thighs. These are the things that get me excited to workout and start my week off right. I don’t care what people think or if they’re staring, I just care about getting a great workout and doing anything in my power to motivate myself for a fabulous Monday. You can use any kind of motivation it takes to get up out of bed and pumped to face the week ahead. So go on, dance in the middle of the free-weights, sing out loud in your car, and gosh golly, wear whatever you want to lift your attitude. All you need is a little workout motivation!
