I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz going around of a lychee fruit (also known as lichi, litchi, leechi). The first time I ever even heard of it was on the Dr. Oz Show. He was explaining all the amazing benefits of this little fruit and how it helps with weight loss. You know me, any way to help assist weight loss and it’s got my attention.
I wanted to do my research first. What is this fruit and how will it help me specifically? What I learned was that lychee has some awesome health benefits.
Health Benefits of Lychee
Has a huge amount of vitamin C–
If you eat 10 g of lychee fruit, you are getting 100% of the daily need for Vitamin C
High levels of magnesium and calcium –
Calcium and magnesium is great for strong bones. Lychee is good for children who are in a period of growth and also by adults to help aid osteoporosis
Helps treat coughs–
It can also have an effect to help cure gastralgia, tumor and gland swelling
Someone who eats lychee everyday will improve their skin because of all the vitamins and minerals in lychee
Helps aid weight loss–
The litchi fruit has a very low fat content, even lower than most other fruits. It’s said that someone on any diet can eat lychee because it doesn’t add to their daily intake of calories. Do I personally think you should eat lychee all day, no. Everything needs to be in moderation
Believed to enrich the blood and improve physical strength. Often, injured people recover faster when eating a lichi-rich diet
I love finding all of these little helpful foods that help us get healthy and assist in our weight loss process. Never be afraid to try out new foods, you’ll be surprised by the benefits you can get from a lot of them. Lychee has become a household fruit in my family and a snack I don’t have fight with my kids about because they love it too!
