Give a Gift to Yourself

Give a Gift to Yourself

December has arrived. In Miami, it’s easy to forget that the holidays are around the corner because it is still beach weather. But the one thing that always let’s me know it’s that time of year is the people ringing those bells outside of malls, stores, even schools.

So when I heard the bells ringing as I parked my car outside of the mall yesterday, I knew it was time to start checking off presents from my to-do list.

Sometimes we get so caught up getting gifts for others, we fail to get a gift for the most important person in our lives- ourselves.

This year, let’s change that.

Let’s make a goal that we will add our own names to the shopping list and treat ourselves to something that will contribute to our weight loss goals.

For instance, I’ve really been meaning to get a new pair of spin shoes for a few months now. Spin classes are important to me and I’ve been needing a pair, I just never made it a priority to get some. The other day, when I was out doing some Christmas shopping, I saw the perfect pair. I decided that if I wanted these shoes, I had to make it a priority.

I went home and started dropping subtle hints to my husband. When that didn’t work (ladies, you know why), I came right out and told him. I made it clear as day that I wanted those spin shoes as my gift for the holidays.

Sometimes we concentrate so much more on others and what we can do for them, we forget about ourselves and what we need.

So next time you are out shopping for others this holiday season, pick out something for yourself that will help you with your weight loss goal.

Here’s another tip- When others ask you want you want for the holidays, keep with the fitness trend. Your mother/father, husband/wife or anyone else who may get you a gift. There are plenty of things out there that will motivate you to workout better or eat healthier.

  • Here are some ides:
  • New running shorts

  • An iTunes music gift card
  • A session with a fitness trainer

The list could go on and on. Keep these healthy gift ideas in mind when buying gifts for your friends and family. You never know when they’ll get inspired to get fit and active too!
