Change Your Workout Routine

Change your workout routine every month, it will shock your muscles and force your body to adapt and give you something new and fresh to do. When you do the same routine over and over, your body gets used to it and doesn’t react as effectively. You might think you’re burning the same amount of calories, but in fact you are wasting your time and energy because there is no improvement in your body and your muscles are not reacting to the effort that you are putting in to it.

Don’t get stuck in a routine that may cause boredom and apathy leading you to abandon your purpose of losing weight. Changing your workout routine not only will do wonders for your body but also will boost your energy, enthusiasm and motivation.

For example: Spinning is a very exciting and interesting class, people are always singing and screaming cheerful words, that spur your energy. So not only you burn tons of calories, but also stimulate your spirit. Spinning is a great starting cardio class, you can burn up to 800 calories per session. Doing it 3 times a week will improve your heart rate and your ability to drop pounds faster.

Kick boxing is even more exciting since it combines all in one routine – martial arts, boxing, cardio and free weights – giving you the opportunity to work different parts of your body at the same time in one good session – like with my trainer Larry – we burn up to 1200 calories. Not bad!

If you don”t feel like doing a class you can also take advantage of the different cardio exercise machines. I recommend the stair master as a quick and effective calorie buster. If you are not into extreme workout and would rather take it slowly, you can do the treadmill, just make sure you use the incline mode, with the right speed for better results.

Swimming two or three times a week is a fantastic way to improve your body and your cardio-rate and exercise all your muscles at once. Just remember to combine this practice with another cardio activity, because swimming is not the best fat burning exercise. And watch out! Swimming is known to increase your appetite; on the other hand, if you have joint problems it’s the best option you can take.

No matter what activity you pick, make sure you stay active, not only for losing weight but also for you integral health and quality of life.
