5 Fat Loss Tricks (And Treats!) For Looking Great In Your Halloween Costume
October 22nd, 2012 by Ingrid Macher
I’m so excited…
My favorite holiday is just a week away!
Of course, I’m talking about Halloween… the one day all year where you get to be whoever you want to be.
Halloween season is one of my favorite times of the entire year. And it’s especially great in Miami, where people really embrace the holiday.
There are so many awesome events going on and parties being thrown in the next week.
I can’t wait to have a good time and see all the awesome costumes.
The only problem is… I haven’t picked out my costume yet.
I don’t know if I’m going to be Wonder Woman, a movie star, or maybe a sexy nurse…
But I do know I’ve been eating right and working hard in the gym… so whichever costume I decide to go with should look good on me.
And let’s face it… on Halloween, the night where it’s okay to climb out of your shell, we all want to look good.
But if you’ve been slacking on your diet and exercise, it’s still not too late.
With a week to go, there are still things you can do to “spook” your body into shedding extra pounds… so you look great in your costume.
And I’m going to share five tricks you can use to make sure you turn some heads at your costume party.
So let’s get started.
First off… empty out the candy bowls and fill your fridge with fat burning foods.
With only days to go before the big holiday, if you have some pounds to drop, you want to stay away from the junk and eat foods that help to burn fat.
So what are those fat burning foods?
I’m talking about lean proteins, healthy fats, and good fibrous carbohydrates.
We want to cut back on the starchy carbs… especially the simple sugars like white bread, white rice, flour, etc.
Foods we want to eat are chicken, fish, eggs, oatmeal, nuts, berries, avocados, and grapefruits.
Next, we want to cut back on the sugar.
Nothing ruins your body faster than sugar.
It creeps into a lot of the foods we eat—sodas, desserts, fruit juices— and before we even know it, really adds up in calories.
Sugar causes massive insulin spikes that send our bodies into fat storage mode… which is the exact opposite of what we want when we’re trying to shed those final pounds.
Plus… even though they give us short bursts of energy, that burst is always followed by a crash that leaves us feeling sluggish and tired. And we’re going to need energy to fuel us through the fat blasting workouts we’re going to do.
So cut out the sugar. And get your energy from nutritious whole foods like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
And when you do your fat blasting workouts…
Make sure you focus on your legs!
And I don’t just mean if your Halloween costume involves a short dress.
Working out your legs is one of the most important things anyone can do when trying to lose fat.
Because your legs are such a major muscle group, working them causes your body to use a lot of energy. And to come up with that energy, your body starts breaking down fat cells.
So if you want to burn a lot of calories and boost your metabolism, make sure you work out your legs.
Some great exercises you can do are squats, lunges and step-ups.
In fact, I wrote up an entire leg routine you can do in your own home while watching TV. It would be great if you picked two days this week to follow that routine.
You can find it here:
Another thing you want to do is to eat small meals throughout the day.
This is always important. Eating small meals is a good habit you should follow your entire life.
But it’s especially important when you’re in a hurry to drop some fat.
That’s because when you keep your body constantly nourished by eating small meals throughout the day…
Not only do you reduce your cravings, help avoid over-eating, and make it easier to choose healthier foods…
But you also boost your metabolism… meaning you burn more fat, without doing more work!
Because the small meals you eat throughout the day act like logs in a fire… they keep those metabolic flames burning constantly, so you’re always burning fat.
But to take that fat burning to an even higher level…
You need to supercharge your body with super foods.
Super foods are foods packed with incredible amounts of nutrients… giving you the nutritional kick start you need when trying to burn fat.
They keep your metabolism up, give you tons of useable energy, and just make you feel healthier overall, so you’re able to keep up the motivation and focus you need to achieve your goals.
Some great super foods are raw Maca powder, goji berries, spirulina, chia seeds and apple cider vinegar.
To discover just how incredible they are for you, you can check out a blog I wrote all about them:
So focus on eating fat burning foods in small meals through the day. Cut back on the sugar… exercise your legs… and then supercharge your body with super foods.
If you follow those five simple tips… then this time next week, when Halloween rolls around, you’ll be sure to turn heads in your new costume.
