No matter how much we try to sugar-coat it…
Life is exhausting.
It takes an incredible amount of energy to get up every morning and go through an entire day full of responsibilities.
Between work… taking care of the house… raising a family…
It’s all so much to keep up with… and doesn’t leave much energy left over to go after your fat loss goals.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed… run down… like you desperately need a break from it all…
Trust me, I know how you feel.
It’s like my entire life went on turbo once I had my daughter Mia. I was so happy… and wouldn’t trade the experience for the world… but it was so draining.
I felt tired all the time! I became like a caffeine junkie… relying on coffee, sodas and energy drinks just to get through my days.
And while that helped for a little bit… after a while, it only made things worse.
My exhaustion just wouldn’t go away.
I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue… a condition common in men and women in their thirties.
And when I started researching the condition, I found that it was the result of abusing caffeine drinks and artificial sweeteners.
The “short term fixes” many people rely on for energy… actually exhaust their adrenal glands… and make it harder for their bodies to produce that energy.
So I knew I had to make changes.
I couldn’t just give up on my responsibilities because I felt tired.
I had a child to take care of… goals to achieve…
And I knew the only way I would achieve those goals is if I changed the lifestyle that obviously wasn’t working for me.
So I made a decision to ditch the energy drinks once and for all… and find healthier alternatives to provide my body with the energy it needs.
And I found that by eating certain foods… I started feeling energetic again. And getting through my daily responsibilities became more of a breeze.
Now I’m hardly ever tired! I’m always full of energy.
And I’ve been like this for so long now that I almost forgot how much most people struggle.
Recently, I attended a conference in New York… and walking through the city, I was shocked at how tired everyone looked in the morning.
They were walking to work like zombies… with coffee in their hand… relying on it to get them through the morning. But those of you who drink coffee know that the energy it gives you is almost always followed by the crash that leaves you tired.
I felt like the food police! I wanted to just go around and slap the coffee out of their hands, because it was only making their problems worse.
But instead… I set a reminder to write this post for you…
And teach my loyal subscribers how to correctly eat for energy, so that they don’t have to struggle with being tired anymore.
When you learn how to correctly eat for energy… not only will you find it easier to get through your day, but you’ll find you also have the energy you need to really go after your fat loss goals and finally get that body of your dreams!
I’m about to show you how to make it happen.
You see, the saying is true…
You are what you eat!
And when we stuff our mouths with lifeless foods… stuff that has been processed and had all the energy taken out of it, then it’s no wonder we’re exhausted by noon.
We need to eat food with life in it.
Like vegetables that are packed with all those important nutrients.
A great source of constant sustainable energy are root vegetables… which grow in the ground.
Some examples of these are carrots, squashes, sweet potatoes, radishes, onions, etc…
There are a lot of great vegetables that grow in the ground that you may not know about. But the nutritional punch they pack can really help power you through your day.
To get the most out of them, you want to eat foods grown as close to home as possible.
If you grow them in your own garden, that’s great… but if not, going to the local farmer’s market will give you a great variety of nutritious foods that are in season.
Other great energy foods are leafy greens.
These vegetables grow above ground and towards the sun…
So they offer a cleaner, lighter source of fresh energy… as well as many vitamins and minerals.
Good sources of these foods are spinach, romaine lettuce, collard greens, arugula, swiss chard, etc.
And again, it’s best to get these foods grown as close to home as possible…
And by mixing these greens with the root vegetables, you’ll have a great balance of focused and flexible energy.
Some of the super foods also provide great sources of energy.
Like Maca powder… which comes from a root vegetable in Peru. It’s awesome for your general healthy, and has been used for hundreds of years to increase energy levels, boost people’s moods, and strengthen your immune system.
It has a delicious nutty flavor… and since it’s a powder, can be easily added to make delicious smoothies.
Another great super food that gives you energy are chia seeds…
Chia seeds are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, fiber, omega-3 oils, and minerals. They’re a complete protein source, providing all the essential amino acids in an easily digestible form..
You can take 2 tablespoons in a glass of water… or just add them to your smoothie.
And the last super food we’re going to talk about is coconut oil.
Coconut oil is a healthy source of fat that has been shown to help soothe your glands, including your adrenals and your thyroid. Many people who suffered with chronic fatigue syndrome swear by it.
Coconut oil contains special fatty acids called medium chain triglycerides which can be immediately broken down for energy instead of being turned into fat… which obviously makes them an amazing tool for those of us trying to burn fat!
Coconut oil can easily add some delicious taste to your smoothies as well.
So there you have it…
Ditch the energy drinks… and start eating foods that give you clean, natural energy.
You’ll find that getting through your days become much easier… as you’ll literally be flooded with energy!
But if you find you’re still missing your morning coffee… you can replace it with oolong tea, which is a much healthier alternative.
So try these tips and give your body the food it wants. Food filled with life.
