Fitness Fun With Zumba

I was tired of doing the same classes over and over, the same cardio machines, the same routine.. Then, I decided to explore new alternatives to make my workout fun. One day, when I was on my way back from the bank, I found on my windshield a post card offering a free trial to Zumba classes. Wow! This was a sign from the workout gods!

Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance in an effort to make exercise fun. Zumba is not only fun, but it’s a great core workout and an excellent calorie burner.

As a Latina woman married to an all-American-boy, I never get the chance to go to Latin clubs to dance because my hubby has no interest in learning Latin rhythms since for him these things are “too complicated” and he always says “honey, too much shaking going on!” So I went to the advertised place and did the trial class. Let me tell you my amazing experience. All kinds of people were gathered there, not only Latinos, but people from all over the world and all ages, which kind of surprised me. Everyone was happy, friendly, energetic, and ready to start. When the music began and the instructor started the routine, I immediately got transported to my Colombian hometown. We were dancing Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Samba and even a touch of belly dancing.. I was in heaven!

That was the day when I found the answer to my prayers and I learned not to bother my husband with “caliente nights” at the Latin clubs. I told him “since you don’t want to dance with me, I found the solution: Zumba classes”. And from that moment on, everybody is happy. I can shake as much as I want while hubby enjoys relaxing times at home.

Since I have been doing Zumba I noticed that my body has benefited from this incredible workout. Zumba is actually a great fat burner and a stress reducer. Both your body and your mind fuse into the music letting you be yourself and express freely for one hour. Zumba is a fitness workout for anyone; you don’t need to be an expert dancer or an athlete in order to enjoy the classes, and the best thing is that you can go at your own pace without worrying about other people.

If you’d love to impress your significant other or maybe improve your chances of finding a new date, Zumba is not just a workout, but a great dancing lesson. You’ll shine as a star on the dancing floor and all the eyes will be on you. What else could you ask for?
