Agua de Jamaica, huh? The Secret Benenfits you Need to Know!

Jamaican Water

Agua de Jamaica, say that five times fast. Yeah, I can’t either. Now, drink it five times fast. That, I bet you could do. Agua de Jamaica, known here in the United States as Jamaican water, is one of the tastiest teas out there. Just ask my husband, I am constantly sipping on this cup of goodness.
Granted, the fact that it’s delicious is probably all you have to hear to try it. However, I’m about to inform you why it is quite possibly one of the best things you can put into your body as well. Double Wammy! High-five!

Let me break this down for you: Jamaica flower tea (Jamaican Water) is a hibiscus tea known for its popularity in Mexico. It is a tea brewed from a flower called Jamaica, which here in the U.S. is the hibiscus flower. In Mexico, hibiscus blossoms are called Jamaica and Jamaica flower tea is called “Agua de Jamaica”, essecially, it’s a hibiscus tea. Ya still with me on this? Ok, good. The flowers are brewed until it becomes this tart, tasteful, delicious beverage we know as Jamaican water. In Mexico, the tea is heavily sweetened with sugar, but pretend you didn’t hear that. We lightly sweeten it with a little honey instead. Trust me, that’s what I do and I love it.

Now on to why I want to share this fabulous beverage secret with you!

Jamaican water was introduced to me by a friend. They told me since I was retaining a lot of water weight, that this tea would help flush it out of my system, I’ve been hooked ever since! Even if you don’t have any digestive issues, it’s a great drink that helps you stay on track when it comes to digestion. Besides, when has going, and I mean going going, ever been a problem? This is a yummy tea that just naturally flushes your system out. And not when you’re least expecting it either, you don’t have to call out of work after you drink it because you’re scare you’ll “go” too much. It’s just a tea that lightly helps with the process, let’s just say it’s your digestive systems little cheerleader.

Now on to it’s nutritional value. Oh man, where do I begin? For starters, Jamaican water is loaded with Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps supports a healthy immune system, and people often take it when they feel cold-like or flu-like symptoms. It’s also an anti-oxidant that helps your body fight off disease and cancer. The tea is high in electrolytes, which makes it great for replenishing the body after exercise. Electrolytes effect the muscles, amount of water in the body, and blood acid levels. Additionally, you can use Jamaica flower tea to alleviate menstrual cramps, normalize high blood pressure, help purify arteries and kidneys and lower high cholesterol.

Although I love the tea for doing all those great things for my body, my favorite thing it does is inhibits enzymes which break down complex sugars and starches. The hibiscus flower speeds up metabolism and absorbs carbs which can lead to obesity.

See! I told you Jamaican water is good for you! Now that I proved it’s a healthy tea (which you can drink hot or cold) that’s great for your body, it’s up to you to test it out to see if you like it, try it with some organic honey or organic maple sugar fakes. After you try this amazing, life-changing Agua de Jamaica, let me know if you like it. I’d love to hear the feedback.
